The Malcolm X Ella Collins House, Mayor Wu, the New England Revolution, and members of the local community invite you to the groundbreaking ceremony for Malcolm X Park at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22.
The celebration marks the beginning of an $8.8 million dollar, single-phase project. The project includes $750,000 of funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund state grant and $2,000,000 donation from Robert Kraft, New England Revolution Investor and Operator,towards an artificial turf field.
AMONG THE PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS:
Play areas for ages 2-5 and 5-12
Water play
Amphitheater space
Four basketball courts
Two tennis courts
Artificial turf field including: softball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, kickball
Walking loop
Exercise equipment
Pathway improvements including ADA upgrades at pathways and entrances
Lighting for the playing fields and courts
Scoreboards for field and basketball
BBQ areas and plazas
Math education trail throughout the park
Murals on the courts
